One of our tasks this week on the ABSPD course was to loosen up and get mark making and to even make some ‘brushes’ to mark make with.
And that’s how these crazy looking objects came about.
It made me realise how stuck in my own way of working I’ve been because when I suspended disbelief and just had a go, I came up with some very useful work.
It’s a bit like a jigsaw puzzle at the moment with each piece being created for the whole picture. I can see how useful these abstracts will be for layering into patterns as backgrounds.
I am itching for some colour though. Ā š Ā Ā Soon…

Brushes? Or instruments of torture! Looking forward to seeing you integrate that into your work.

I’m fascinated by the brushes made from ties, brilliant! I love these ‘no purpose other than discovery’ kinds of mark making exercises. Have fun, and hopefully it will be colourful fun soon š

Wonderful ! I am so intrigued in this course. It is also quite far from your usual style which is brilliant as it’s great to branch out and try something new. Looking forward to the updates.

Going from left to right around the mosaic square…no.1 was white acrylic ink drawn from the pipette, paint dragged with a plastic fork (my fave) a wooden dolly peg and no.4 was the feathers if I remember correctly. I put them on my flickr account with some more detail. Thanks for asking š

That looks like a fun project! It shows that sometimes we just need to think out of the box – I love all of your “brushes”, just looking at them makes me want to try them out.

Love the brushes…nice to see what things you can use to make one! And fun to see what effects you produce….I look forward to seeing what you do next!
Have a great week.
