Today I found a little piece of stillness.

The presents are bought and wrapped. Family time has been spent and enjoyed. Friends have visited and eaten.

But today there was a small piece of afternoon to spend and as I’m ashamed to say that it’s been over a month since my paintbrushes got wet, painting it was.

The groundsmen had kindly trimmed the holly bush back over in the woods and left it all on the ground for any lucky passer-by to appropriate.

It has been a restorative bit of solitude and now I’m ready for more festivity! Four more sleeps as my still excited 13-year-old keeps counting down.
