This past week has ticked around very slowly as I’ve sat recovering from an inner ear infection. But it did mean that I’ve watched a lot of TV and had a fair amount of computer time – so here’s some things to share….
Watched Team GB’s Francesca Jones ( all the way from our very own Birmingham City) compete in the Rhythm Gymnastic’s. AmAzInG what these girls can do with ribbon, hoops, batons and balls, all set to music!! Like ballet and gym after drinking Red Bull. Awesome!
Discovered the Sweet Paul website and in particular the back issues pages. Beautiful magazine full of lots of creativity and gorgeous photo’s.
Bought some lovely Liberty fabrics for still life backgrounds for when I do stop feeling dizzy and can paint again.
Found this article from the New York Times by Tim Krieder (found via Lisa and Susan) witty and interesting; a balm to my anxious soul while it recalibrates to this new stage of my working life that looks, and feels, very different to my previous one.
“Busyness serves as a kind of existential reassurance, a hedge against emptiness; obviously your life cannot possibly be silly or trivial or meaningless if you are so busy, completely booked, in demand every hour of the day.”
Which is a good note to end on because I have most certainly not been busy but hopefully I’ll be back up to 100% and soon have more creative exploits to share with you

eek! rest easy, it’s all part of “the change”
xx
Its funny how the body throws us a loop right when we have this urgency to make the uncertain certain….I got a right royal dose of flu a week after I finished up work…it sucked and I panicked…but the inevitable letting go definitely helped me face my fears.
Sending huge hugs (laced with battenbergs) for the “recovery” that you need

He hee I was worried about Jenny’s comment about ‘the change’ – you are way way way too young!!! Now I get it (can you hear the penny dropping from there?)
So sorry you have been unwell, but glad you have used the time productively to look for lovely internet sites just for us!!
I quite like the idea of existential reassurance- I am going to bamboozle hubbie with it next time he tells me I am too busy! I shall just tell him I am existentially reassuring myself!

Feeling dizzy is awful so hope your get well soon. I loved what I saw of the rythmic gymnastics but there wasn’t enough covered and Francesca was so graceful. Loved the fabric and it will be just beautiful.

Loved watching the gymnastics- probably my favorite part of the Olympics! (I think I really loved all the male swimmers too…did I say that?)
I have got a glimpse of Sweet Paul here and there, I better go and spend some more time
Hope you feel all 100% good -xx
