For me, Springtime is all about those first primula’s. As soon as I see that riot of colour on sale wherever I go, I feel excited that the world will loose it’s brown/grey/white tones and become interesting and colourful again.
Remember those ink blurred flowers from yesterday? Well this is my ode to Springtime for Mr Toast’s Creative Tuesday.
I didn’t mean to go missing all week. For some time I’ve been ignoring my computer telling me every time I started it up, that it was almost full. Yeah, yeah…a job for another day. You know how it goes: that day became weeks, even months and I still happily downloaded more and more photographs. That is until this week when my computer said ‘No way – not another thing”. And so I had to bite the bullet and begin downloading and archiving five years worth of photo’s in order to make space for it simply to switch on.
Life seems full, full, full at the moment and so I made sure I had a little creative down-time (it’s proven by Nasa scientists to keep me sane). I got out my old inks, some wet watercolour paper and some drops of ink and had some fun bleeding the colours. Show you on Tuesday – have a good start to the week.
…the house is full of beautiful spring flowers cheering up every corner…
… the sun is shining and the birds seem to be singing more…
…and the paper runs an inspiring story such as this …
I’ve been enjoying a little space to catch up in.
This monthly sketchbook seemed a good idea at the time.
A way of forcing myself to be systematic about recording in a sketchbook, all that passes quickly before my eyes if I don’t stop and make myself look.
But here I am doing January, February and March all at once !
I have really enjoyed this sunny weather and the amazing light to paint in.
But not enjoying this phase of dog ownership, which means bruised legs, scratched faces and a crazed dog who really, really wants to get off that lead for a ruuuuuuuuuuun!
Have a good weekend.
This week’s theme over at Creative Tuesday is Breakfast. I’m not sure if my entry is inspired by all the instruction writing that I’m teaching at school currently, or whether it’s because this is the only thing in my home that is guaranteed to get eaten for breakfast (it was the same when my kids were 5 as it is now they are 15.) Probably it’s a combination of the both.

Head over here to see the links to the other entries.
Sorry I’m a day later than I expected. Lottie had her lady op at the vets yesterday and Lucy turned 13 today so I’ve been absorbed by my ladies. Thanks to everyone who visited my new website and left such encouraging comments.
Here are the three winners…
Anne – you were the first pick so you win the Butterflies painting.
Helen – you were second out so you win the Nasturtiums print.
Bec – you were third so you win the Tiny Teapot print.
Please email your addresses so that I can send you your paintings. Sorry you can’t all win
but know that I really value your support. Have a great weekend.
I am in the mood to celebrate as my new website has gone live today! For many months the creative geniuses at iedesign have been honing www.claireleggett.co.uk into fruition and I am so delighted with it. So delighted I’m going to give away not one, not two but three pieces of work to celebrate this milestone.
First up is this original painting. Each butterfly is painted onto a square of printed text from a vintage book. The whole piece is mounted (matted) and ready to frame. First name outta the hat wins this.
The second name picked will win the laser print of Nasturtiums below which is again mounted (matted) and ready to frame.
And last but not least, the third name randomly chosen will win this laser print of Tiny Teapot.
“What do I need to do to go in the giveaway draw ?” you ask. Anyone can win from anywhere in the world. Just have a look around my website and leave me a comment on the blog page telling me what you like best about it. It might be something about it’s appearance, something you never knew about me that you learnt from my About page or a painting in the Gallery which you’ve never seen before. Just have a good rummage around and leave a comment. I will put all the names in a hat sometime on Friday 11th March and find three winners.
